WAKING THE DEAD Wins Big!
I am SO late announcing this here! Life has been crazy – I can’t believe Awards Month has come and gone, and now it’s mid-November already. *sigh* But better late than never, right?
So, without further ado, I am super excited to announce that WAKING THE DEAD won the Gold Medal for Best Published Fantasy in Florida Writers Association’s Royal Palm Literary Award! I am so honored by this award, as DEBRIEFING THE DEAD won it last year.
WOW. Just…wow. :)
And…I’m even later announcing that WAKING THE DEAD also earned First Runner Up in InD’tale Magazine’s Reward Of Novel Excellence Award for Best Paranormal (Long) – which DEBRIEFING THE DEAD won last year!

We Did It!
Thank you all SO much for your support! And sorry for the delayed update – it turns out teaching high school math to middle school students, 100% online, is EXACTLY as hard and time-consuming as it sounds. :(
Anyway! I’m not here to complain about the day job, but to share wonderful news: On September 9, DEBRIEFING THE DEAD officially became a bestseller, in several categories, and in three countries: the US, Canada, and the UK. (I made it to #2 in Australia, also for several days! :)) And it stayed in the top 10, in all those countries, for five to six days!
So, thank you ALL for your support during this big push! I couldn’t have done it without you!!
Next up: Awards month! In all the other excitement, I almost forgot (#lying ;)) that WAKING THE DEAD is still nominated for two awards, both of which will be announced in October. First up is InD’tale Magazine’s RONE (Reward of Novel Excellence) Awards on October 10, followed by the Royal Palm Literary Awards on October 17.

WAKING THE DEAD is a Royal Palm Literary Award Finalist
I’m SO excited to announce that WAKING THE DEAD is following in its Big Sister’s (DEBRIEFING THE DEAD‘s) footsteps – not only did it make it to the 2020 RONE Finals for Best Paranormal: Long, but I just learned it’s also a Royal Palm Literary Award Finalist for Best Published Fantasy!
Sadly, BOTH those awards ceremonies are in October. Maybe by then, my fingernails will have grown back (from all the nail biting ;)) and I’ll be able to hobble down the Virtual Red Carpets with no cast, and no boot, completely under my own steam! (I had foot surgery a couple of weeks ago – 2020 is the year that Just. Won’t. Quit!!!!! :))

WAKING THE DEAD is a 2020 RONE Nominee
I’m so excited to announce that WAKING THE DEAD has been nominated for InD’tale Magazine’s 2020 RONE (Reward of Novel Excellence) Awards, in the Paranormal – Long category! (This is the same category that DEBRIEFING THE DEAD won last year – talk about pressure!!!) Unfortunately ;), this means I’ll be begging for votes in the Reader Voting Round, which runs May 18 through May 24.
But right now, I’m just happy dancing and drinking virtual champagne while self-quarantining. (Side note: The silver lining in all this madness is that I have FINISHED the first draft of DAMNING THE DEAD! I’m editing it now, and will turn it in to my editor as soon as I can. Fingers crossed that it may come out later this year!!!)

N.N. Light Book Awards – Double Winner!
I’m so THRILLED to announce that WAKING THE DEAD has won the N.N. Light Book Award for Best Urban Fantasy of 2019! I saw the email as I scrolled up my inbox this morning, and two emails later I discovered…PUBLISH OR PERISH also won, for Best Romantic Suspense!!
To say I’m honored is a severe understatement. Like DEBRIEFING THE DEAD, PUBLISH OR PERISH is a book that I shopped around for years to agents and editors, who gave me oodles of form rejections. Which just proves once again that what agents think they can sell, or editors think is publishable, isn’t necessarily what readers think is just a good book. :)
Okay, I have to take my tiara off now and get to work. But WHAT a way to start the last week before Winter Break – I couldn’t ask for a better Christmas present!!!!!
