If you live anywhere in the Path of Totality, or within a thousand mile radius of it, you know what I’m talking about. I’m in Oregon, and it’s big here. Huge. Like, Apocalypse NOW. Or, Apocalypse in about 48 hours, anyway.
The traffic was worst, so far, on Thursday. Yesterday, it was actually pretty good. I’m not planning on going far, but it would be nice to be in the path, so mi madre and I are heading out early Monday. I’m thinking by then, there will be NO ONE on the roads, because everyone panicked and left on Thursday.
Getting home may be another matter. DD is going to be in Madras, OR with a friend. (If you don’t live in Oregon, this is The Place To Be, eclipse-wise.) “They” are predicting traffic leaving after the eclipse will be, essentially, a parking lot for about twelve hours or more. She has soccer practice on Tuesday, so hopefully she’ll be home in time for that, at least.
DH is missing it entirely, because he made plans to visit family in CA *this weekend,* not remembering the Eclipse Madness won’t extend that far south. And DS is going to “hang with friends,” and then go to work at 1:00. If they don’t get stuck in Post-Eclipse Madness Parking Lot (hereafter known as “PEMPL”).
So anyway, all this means…. not much. I just didn’t have anything else to blog about. ;)
